Important information regarding the No Kings March and Rally in Gold Beach this coming Saturday

Hi all – Indivisible North Curry County is looking forward to Saturday, June 14th when we will gather for the No Kings March and Rally in Gold Beach.

Once again, we will peacefully assemble to celebrate our constitution and exercise our First Amendment rights. Our rallies and marches have always been joyous and unifying events that have brought us together, working towards renewing the promise of our democracy.

We anticipate the same for this Saturday’s event, but we also recognize the current climate of fear and uncertainty as we watch events unfold in southern California and throughout our country. As Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible has stated, “What we do know is that this is scary — intentionally so. Fear is their goal because fear is both demobilizing and contagious.”

INCC has always been aware of our responsibility in hosting events that are effective and most importantly, safe. To that end, we began discussing safety and security procedures long before the recent events in LA, and we continue to do so. As always, there will be dedicated safety and security INCC members who will be available throughout Saturday’s events. We will hold our usual safety messaging at the beginning of the rally and will have printed cards for participants outlining the steps to take if any situation feels unsafe.

AND, AS ALWAYS, we count on the goodwill and good-intentioned participants who attend these events. We ask you once again to commit to the core principle of all INCC events – nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Despite how unsettling these days are, we are excited for Saturday, when millions throughout our country – and globally – will peacefully assemble to say NO KINGS IN THE USA!

As Dr Martin Luther King, JR reminded us, “Democracy transformed from thin paper to thick action is the greatest form of government on Earth. It’s not enough to believe in justice, we must stand up for it. It’s not enough to hope for change, we must work for it. Let’s commit to being better, doing better, and building a democracy rooted in equality, justice, and love.”

See you on the sidewalks Saturday!
