OUR WORK ON THE COUNTY RESOLUTION re IMMIGRANTS IS NOT DONE!

Once again, the citizens of Curry County showed up, stood up, and made their voices heard. A standing-room-only crowd packed the Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting on Wednesday, May 7, and voiced their opposition to the proposed resolution supporting cooperation with federal immigration officials. As usual, Curry citizens were well-informed, articulate, and passionate about the issue. The commissioners also acknowledged receiving many emails and phone calls.

BUT OUR WORK IS NOT DONE.

The action resulting from the discussion will be to revise the language in the resolution. We will see this again at another BOC meeting. As reported by Oregon Public Broadcasting, “There is a pathway to success with this on a local level,” Commissioner Lynn Coker told the crowd.

We must show our newest Commissioner that this resolution has NO pathway to success. Keep up your emails and phone calls to all the Commissioners and stay informed about the BOC schedule. You can sign up to get notifications about public notices and BOC meetings HERE and INCC will continue to keep you updated.
